As the school year starts up again, it is important to recognize the dedicated staff members in our district. One certain individual is Mr. Hand, who has been a notable figure at Hamburg Area High School for the past three and a half years. Mr. Hand has had permanent teaching experience from previous years before, including after his time spent in college. He is currently substituting the Business Fundamentals class. In addition to this class, he is also substituting for the Computer and Career Awareness class. He has been taking place for Mr. Hetrich, who has been on a leave for quite some time.
There have been plenty of other classes that Mr. Hand has substituted for in this school. An interesting fact about him is that he used to have his own business. As Mr. Hand states, “My first job was never teaching. I actually had my own business for a while.” A majority of that business was really dealing with all sorts of batteries and selling them. Mr. Hand has wanted to teach students about the fundamentals of taking care of a business, how to make them think about their career, and to be more prepared for the future.
Mr. McGinley, the principal of Hamburg Area High School, is appreciative of all of the work that Mr. Hand can take care of. Mr. McGinley has known Mr. Hand since last year. Mr. McGinley shares that Mr. Hand is a resourceful man and always covers classes when needed. “He is certainly the jack of all trades,” as Mr. McGinley describes him. Mr. Hand has done so much for this school when it came to stepping in when needed.
