On August 22, many artists released albums, including Laufey with A Matter of Time, Deftones with Private Music, Mac DeMarco with Guitar, and many more favored artists. Laufey says, as stated on Time articles, “My first two albums are kind of just like, ‘Oh, I wonder what it will feel like, la di da, I’m falling behind,’” she said over a Zoom call last month. “But this one is a lot more introspective and mature.”
New freshman, Delayna Grim, reviewed the album and as a whole, she thinks it shows off Laufey’s lyrical genius and how she has singlehandedly revived the jazz genre in 2025.
Additionally, a popular artist, Mac DeMarco has also released a hit album on the exact same day. New freshman, Lily Yoder, says she enjoyed his album and felt that it had that same tone as his old music which made her glad to see that he was not giving up on his sound. There were a few songs she enjoyed more than others, but overall, she rated it a 10/10. Mac DeMarco says in a Dazed interview, “It’s just nice to make something that feels genuine.” He states, “I want to make music that comes from me.”
Conclusively, August 22 was a day that marked the spontaneous release of many unique and favorite songs worldwide.
