When summertime rolls around, teachers at the high school go on trips together. Two teachers that have gone on trips in the past and went on one this summer were Miss Heckman and Mrs. McCarthy. In the past they went to Disney, New Hampshire, Vermont, West Virginia, Virginia, Missouri, and New York. This summer they took a trip to Kentucky, while also visiting West Virginia, Ohio, and the slightest bit of Indiana. They were gone for eight days and saw so many cool places.
While in Kentucky they visited the Louisville Slugger Museum and Churchill Downs. They also went to the Arc Encounter, Creation museum, and Abe Lincoln childhood home. Additionally, they went on various boat and train rides, while also visiting many distilleries. When they were in Lexington, Kentucky, they went to a Creed concert. They also saw Daughtry and Mammoth since they were the openers for Creed.
Miss Heckman’s favorite place she went to was Churchill Downs. “I always liked watching the Kentucky Derby in May, and it was neat to see where it actually takes place,” said Miss Heckman. “We also did the museum, so it was neat to see the history of the race,” said Miss Heckman. Mrs. McCarthy’s favorite place that they went to was the Louisville Slugger Museum. “I really enjoyed it because they still use hand made bat procedures, and I was glad to see people actually working instead of machines,” said Mrs. McCarthy. “The wood used to make the bats comes from trees that are grown in Pennsylvania,” said Mrs. McCarthy.
They both agree that they would go back to Kentucky in the future. “We only visited about half of what the state has to offer, so yes I would definitely go back,” said Miss Heckman. Mrs. McCarthy also would like to go back in the future, but she would like to go to other places first. They both had some great food while they were on their trip including some yummy fish tacos and breaded shrimp.
Even though this trip just happened, they have already planned out where they will be going next summer. They will be going to Tennessee and North Carolina.
