Elizabeth Grim, more commonly known as Ellie Grim, is a junior at HAHS who has gone to PFEW at Lycoming College. She went during week three of the camp and was there from July 20 to the 25. She had shared a room with Lydia Fultz, another Junior at Hamburg.
Ellie Grim said her favorite part of the camp was Junk Night, a night where the teams that were decided at the start of camp could figure out who can do what in a short and stressful amount of time, and it helped build teamwork for the week. During this camp, Ellie Grim found that she enjoys the marketing aspect of a business; especially the television and radio advertisements. She said, “This camp helped me gain a college campus experience, showed me the free time AND class time aspects of college, the dining hall experience, and taught me skills I can use in my future.” After this camp, Ellie is looking to enroll into a college and have a dual major with Business. She is looking to study Marketing specifically in her business course, because it interests her. She and Lydia used their free time to nap as much as they could because the camp had them wiped after all the lectures and company work times.
Her team, C1, was required to make a healthy food and beverage item. They decided to make the PocketRush health shot which was inspired by a (5 Hour Energy) drink. It was a 3 oz drink which contained vitamins, b-vitamins, antioxidants, and electrolytes.
Ellie says “I would recommend PFEW to any student who wants to meet new people, is curious about the college experience, or has an interest in or wants to learn more about how to run a business.”
