Kaylee Fornwalt and Ava Fiscus are two seniors on the high school girls soccer team and are very enthusiastic about the upcoming season. Kaylee plays sweeper and Ava plays stopper, leading the defense, mainly in the middle. This shows how well they work together.
Kaylee tells us that she is overly excited for this season because she would like to have a successful season with her friends. She is also excited because she knows the potential that her team has and wants to be able to see it and wants the community to see it to its full extent. A main team goal that Kaylee thinks is possible of accomplishing is making it to the post season. She says she thinks that they can accomplish this because they are a well-rounded, talented team but could work on their communication skills. Kaylee has her own music playlist that she listens to before each game to prepare herself. Her personal biggest team rival to beat this year is Berks Catholic because she has friends that play for them which is why she wanted to beat them so much. On Wednesday September 3, 2025, our girls soccer team beat Berks Catholic 9 – 1, so the team is happy for Kaylee because it was accomplished.
Ava explains her team as a family. She is proud to call the team this because she states “we support each other through wins and losses; and we always stick together and improve.” Ava helps to keep this up and encourage her teammates while they are struggling by telling them to take it one step at a time, not to get overwhelmed, and to give positive feedback. Even if and when Ava’s team starts to struggle, she believes that they still work very well together and communicate throughout the whole field. Along with that, Ava believes that the whole team is amazing and that everyone is very encouraging and supportive. She helps to prepare her teammates before games by being kind, which she believes is a very vital role in a successful team. Ava also hypes everyone up and does her best to make sure her and everyone else is having fun. She thinks that their biggest opponent will be Wyomissing. Aside from this, she thinks that the fast-paced season with lots of hard games and barely any rest will be a big challenge towards them.
