As the school year begins, the 2026 seniors begin preparing for graduation by ordering their caps and gowns. Ordering a cap and gown seems like a simple task. However, for the seniors, it may be a bittersweet task as it marks the beginning of the end. Graduation is not just about getting a degree but about saying goodbye to all of the experiences we had. It is about looking back on the memories and friendships that shaped us to be who we are today. It also means that we get to carry all of our accomplishments with us, but start fresh as we go on to this next chapter of our lives.
For Senior Tia Adam, ordering her cap and gown made her a little sad as she realized it was almost graduation time, however, she said “It also made me happy because I am a little tired of school and want to leave and explore college.” Overall, she found this time of the year to be bittersweet.
Similarly, Senior Riley Mohn found it upsetting as it reminded her of when her brother ordered his cap and gown in 2020. She stated, “I realized just how much time had passed between now and then and how I was only in sixth grade when he was a senior, and now it’s been almost six years since he’s been in school.” Ultimately, this time of the year seems to be very bittersweet for seniors as they start their journey of graduation and conclude their high school experience.
