The NFL playoffs started on January 11, with 14 teams competing to win Super Bowl LIX (59). In the playoffs, there are four rounds that teams must go through if they want a shot at the big game.
First there is the Wildcard, where the three teams with the best overall record of all remaining teams in each conference qualify. After the wild card games were played six teams were eliminated. That left the Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, and LA Rams to move on to the next round.
Next, is the Divisional round where eight teams play. The four teams that won and moved on to the conference championship were the Chiefs, Commanders, Eagles, and Bills.
Then, on January 26, the third round of playoffs will occur. The four remaining teams will play to see who will move on to face each other in Super Bowl 59. The Eagles and Commanders will play each other in Philly and the Bills will take on the Chiefs in Kansas City, at Arrowhead Stadium. The last step in the playoff process will finally be the 2025 Super Bowl.
Before we got deep into the playoffs, I asked some of my classmates who they thought would win Super Bowl 59. Rylee Strunk predicts that the Super Bowl matchup will be between the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles. Ninth grader, Samantha Gartner agrees with her. Although the Bills and quarterback, Josh Allen have had a great season, I think that there will be a rematch between the two teams who were in the 2023 Super Bowl. I believe that the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will go head to head for the victory, but this time Philly will bring home the win.
