Everything comes with their ups and downs, but one thing in particular that seems to be a common problem among people is being left handed. According to norgen bio tek, only 10 percent of the world is left-handed, meaning it is not a very common thing. Many things in this world seem to be made particularly for left-handed individuals, whether in notebooks, binders, promethean boards, white boards, eating dinner with a group, and more, there just always seems to be something getting in the way for left-handed individuals. I have personally experienced many of these things being left-handed myself as well as a few other students here at Hamburg.
Molly Fox explains the endless difficulties of being left handed. She explains how since she is left handed writing comes as a struggle. She says, “pencil marks rub off on your hand while writing and writing notes in binders is also annoying because the rings get in the way.” Although all these things do become difficult when being left-handed, she believes it is still a cool experience because not many people are left-handed.
Alexander Valentino explains that the difficulties of being left-handed are “being on the inside seats at restaurants because you always bump elbows with other people if they are a righty.” Even though not many people are left-handed, he still enjoys being a part of that small percentage of people because in a way you are not the same as everyone else.
Despite all the difficulties that come along with being left-handed, people also seem to enjoy it because it sets them apart from the majority of people. So while also taking into consideration the difficulties that may come along with certain things or activities, there are also many positives that may come along with it, and in this case it seems to be standing out in a crowd due to the lack of left-handed people.
