Sophomore Oliva Bogardus is an artist whose favorite hobbies are reading, drawing and writing. Olivia won a contest in her art class for the January BCIU student artwork showcase. She painted a beautiful picture of a tree and says that her inspiration for her painting was to draw a landscape. She researched landscapes and mostly trees and scenery came up so she went from there. The easiest part about doing this painting was the sky because she had a softer brush so it was easier to paint and was smoother than the other majority of the painting. She did not expect it to be picked because the painting was very basic compared to the other paintings, and she thought the other person in the class was going to win. Her parents were very proud and did not expect her to be picked for her artwork to be hung up. Art teacher Mrs.Dommel said it looked really nice and complemented Oliva.
