The Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson was a boxing event in Arlington, Texas, that aired on Netflix on November 15. Many people from around the world, at home or at the stadium, all went to see this historical event of Youtuber vs professional boxer. There were eight two minute rounds in which Paul landed several clean hits, causing him to be declared the winner. An unanimous amount of people bet on Tyson and were outraged at the outcoming of the fight. MVP is currently fighting allegations against multiple people claiming that it was all about money and that it was not a true, fair fight.
A freshman boxer in our school, Zerick Enoch, shared his opinion on the fight. He said that he enjoyed the other events but thought that Paul vs Tyson was unfair. “I do not think the fight was fair,” he says. “I was severely disappointed that Jake Paul won and for sure thought, after watching the training videos, that Tyson would win.” A lot of people around the world also thought that Tyson would win, due to the fact that he is much more experienced than Paul. “As someone who follows and loves boxing, I am truly displeased,” Zerick replied.
Another student who watched the match, Lilly Gibson, said that she was a bit nervous about the fight due to Tyson’s age and his knee injury. “I really liked watching it though, especially because me and Jordan saw the thing live and had raw reactions,” Gibson said. Lilly believes that a lot of rules were unfair and that Paul had some sort of advantage. She says that she believes that not being able to punch below the chest was unfair, because “Tyson is known for his lower punches, while Paul is known for his higher ones. The rules obviously favored one person over the other.” Along with many people around the world, Lilly was not pleased with the outcome of the event. “Jake Paul has not earned his spot yet. He’s a newbie whereas Tyson has been in the boxing world for years,” she states. “It kind of hurt me a bit to watch someone so strong lose to someone who, in my opinion, isn’t worth it.” Many people from around the globe, and even in the community, think the fight was unfair and are genuinely displeased with the end result. Overall, it seems a majority of people disliked the boxing event.
