The winter concert occurred on December 5, and was an event that students had been preparing for since the beginning of the school year. They had been practicing, playing, and singing for around four months to get ready for their big event.
The concert went extremely well and was a great experience for people participating in it and for those who came to watch. Many of the songs were upbeat and exciting, while some of them were softer and more calm. The music teachers and other staff worked hard to put it all together and I, as one of the students who is involved with playing an instrument, appreciate all of the hard work that they continuously put in.
Although the performance was amazing in itself, I did ask some students what we could do to improve it in any way if we could. Ninth grader Charlotte Fiscus said, “We could possibly make it shorter because sometimes it feels too long.” Another student, Rylee Strunk said, “If I could change something about the concert, it would be the order in which the ensembles perform.” Lastly, tenth grader Ellie Grim says, “I would move the concert to a later date to give each ensemble more time to practice.” I would completely agree with her because sometimes the music is not always perfect, and it would be nice to have a little bit more time to practice it.
After asking students what they would do to improve it, I asked them what their favorite part of the whole experience was. Many of them said performing and being able to do it alongside their friends.
I believe that music can bring people together, as well as make events more entertaining. When performing in a concert it is always fun when people get to sing, and play your instruments, but doing it surrounded by people they are grateful for makes it ten times better. Make sure to mark your calendar for the spring concert on May 6.
