On November 20, Hamburg Area High School hosted an exclusive performance of their musical specifically for local senior citizens. The show was free and started at 6 pm on that Wednesday. The night began with guests arriving at the school and entering the cafeterias to wait for dinner to be served. Located around the school were a few high school students volunteering from both the LEO Club and Student Council. These few students showed the guests to the cafeteria and assisted them with whatever they needed. This included pointing them to the bathrooms, helping them through the lunch lines to receive their food, helping them back to their seats, getting them drinks, and anything else they needed. Once they finished their meals, the students then cleared their trays and then showed them to the auditorium to be seated for the show.
The volunteers, including me, seemed to have a good time helping the senior citizens and socializing with everyone. Additionally, the expected outcome of around 300 to 350 people was accurately predicted with an estimated total of around 300 people. This includes a total of 278 dinners served and a couple of seniors who came solely for the show. Overall, the night was extremely successful.
