Christmas is a holiday that is celebrated all around the world, and it is considered the most popular holiday. Christmas is meant to be a religious holiday held on December 25 every year to honor the birth of Jesus. Different households enjoy the holiday in many ways.
Some traditions are not very specific while others are. At HAHS some students decided to share what they do as their very own. “Every year I do a Christmas swap with my sister on Christmas eve,” said ninth grade student Ali Wertz. Others enjoy baking all different types of cookies and treats, watching a holiday movie, and getting to spend quality time with their family.
In the US families enjoy similar things: watching a Christmas movie, baking cookies, decorating the house inside and outside with festive lights, and many more activities. In my family we have quite a few annual things that we do for the holiday. Every year we have a gingerbread house competition. It is between a few of my family members to see who can build and decorate the best gingerbread. Another thing we do is watch It’s A Wonderful Life every single year. We have been doing this since I was really young and most of my family can recite many lines from the movie. My favorite part of Christmas is getting to spend time with my whole family and getting to enjoy each other’s company.
