Vanessa is a freshman who attends Hamburg Area High School. While not at school, she enjoys talking to her friends, eating, and doing her nails. She absolutely loves the show The Outer Banks on Netflix since it is related to beach life. Her favorite music artists are Bruno Mars, Frank Ocean, and Kanye West. Nessa states, “Bruno Mars makes incredible music, and I love listening to him no matter what mood I’m in.” She applied for Berks Career and Technology Center this year, hoping to get in for dental occupations.
Vanessa is a part of the high school band and plays mallet percussion. She has played since she was in fourth grade, and she picked the bells because she thinks they sound really pretty. She enjoys band a lot, as well as her classes. “My favorite class is civics with Mrs. Benvenuto because the way she teaches is easy to understand. I also enjoy Spanish class with Mrs. King since I think she is a good teacher,” says Vanessa. She gets good grades and is at the top of her class. Nessa’s proudest accomplishment in high school so far was having all A’s first quarter.
After high school, she wants to go to college or go right into the dental field and be a dental hygienist. She wants to be a dental hygienist to help people with their teeth journeys since she has been working on her teeth with her dentist and orthodontist for some time. Vanessa’s advice to other students is to stay focused and study hard. She emphasizes, “The hard work you do in high school will eventually pay off in the long run.”
