During the month of December, students who are a part of Mr. Laughlin and Mr. Haegele’s Audio Technology club, as well as any other students who enjoy playing music, listening to music, and singing, look forward to the Java Jam. The is run by the Audio Technology Club and is also supported by the Leo Club. The Audio Technology Club sets up all of the music, instruments, and tracks used for the students to perform while the Leo Club accepts donations for baked goods and refreshments for those attending.
Many different types of students attend and partake in Java Jam. Sophomore Landon Poulious is one of the students singing at the event. “I decided to sing a piece from a show I really enjoy because I have always been drawn to music from television and productions more than music on the radio or on a streaming app.” Landon loves singing and is involved with the school’s choir as well as being in the fall musical. Senior Skylynn Binder on the other hand is singing a more mainstream song. “I gravitate more towards mainstream music, and I mainly prefer to sing pop songs at events just because that is what I’m comfortable with.” Java Jam is an event for all types of people with different music tastes and anybody can come and enjoy the live music and live singing from the many talented students at HAHS.
Java Jam is a great event for students to go to after school and share their talents with others in the community. Everyone is encouraged to attend the winter one on Thursday, December 12 at 6:30 pm in the high school library.
