Hamburg Area High School’s English teacher, Mrs. Trubilla, balances many roles being a mom, wife, and teacher. She usually starts her day as late as possible since getting out of bed can be a challenge, especially when her pets are cozied up beside her. Once up, she gets ready and heads out quickly to avoid being delayed by her husband or daughter. In the car, she often listens to a calming audiobook to ease her anxiety and sometimes stops at Wawa for a warm cappuccino. When she arrives at school, she checks her mailbox, drops her lunch off in the faculty room, and settles into her classroom, where she turns on her calming LED lights, powers up her computer, and organizes her day with a to-do list.
Mrs. Trubilla also does things that help and support the school in other ways besides teaching. Such as her being the junior class advisor. She does a lot with the dance side of things. She says that sometimes it feels as if she is a social coordinator since the juniors are responsible for two of the three formal dances.
While Mrs. Trubilla stays busy with her many responsibilities at school, she still has to balance her home life. She admits that before having her daughter, balancing work and life was a struggle, but becoming a mom made her realize she needed to make changes. Now, she prioritizes finishing as much as she can at school so that she can be fully present for her daughter and husband at home. Trubilla also finds a way to squeeze her hobbies in her schedule which consist of reading books, listening to audiobooks, and urban exploring.
