Halloween is a big holiday in the U.S., and fundraising is an important part of making a class have a successful and enjoyable run through high school. The Sophomore class officers and advisor joined forces with STUCO to get a haunted house up and running. The goal is to have it continue on as a tradition with the sophomore class through Hamburg history.
Class advisor, Mr. Haegele thinks that it was very successful, especially for the first go round. He would like to keep it going, although next year he would like to have more props, and just make the haunted house more scary in general.
Sid Bonning thinks it went really well. “Scaring people was a lot of fun, but I didn’t think people would be as scared. I’m hoping it does happen again in the future.”
Landon Poulios says “I thought it was a hoot.” He liked scaring people and thought it was really fun.
The haunted house was a lot to put together, but in the end it helped bring students together, raise money, and gave many people a light hearted fun activity to do for the night. Over $1,000 was made that night, with most of the supplies for the event being donated. Many people came, and hopefully that number will only go up next year. With the hope that this will be an ongoing tradition, look at the calendar a little early, and mark the day.
