Mrs. Dommel has always taken an interest in anything to do with art. Following that path growing up, she collected a great artistic background that led to being an art teacher and she is the only art teacher at HAHS. Other classes she teaches are: ceramics and 3d design, advanced ceramics and 3d design, drawing, advanced drawing. painting, advanced painting, and studio art. She works extra hard every day to teach students art skills and creativity.
In her class, students work on a variety of different projects. Mrs. Dommel states that “Right now, students are working on a showcase topic of “What’s outside my window?” as a theme.” Students work on various art projects throughout the year.
To do their projects students can either do traditional art or digital art. If they want to do digital art, they can apply for a laptop change. When they get their new laptop it is a touch screen and has the ability to fold in on itself. After the switch of laptops students are unable to do traditional art in the class again and will primarily be using their laptop to draw.
Students in drawing class can use the skills they learn for many things. Some things students can use the skills for include hobbies, diagrams, therapy, and even commision work. Many kids in drawing class plan on following down the art career path, some even joining BCTC for designing.
Drawing is a great class for those who wish to go down an artistic career path or even just to learn a new day to day hobby.
