Every October, on the last Saturday of the month for the last 60 years, Hamburg has had the King Frost Parade. This year there were 9 floats, 7 walking groups, and 5 bands, one being our schools. Lots of people love it and set up their chairs along the street before it even starts to get a good spot. Many students, especially those who live in town, look forward to it, like sophomore Dakota Schneider. She likes cooking with her mom before the parade and inviting friends over to watch and eat together. Her favorite parts are the fun music and the candy that is thrown out. Dakota hopes the parade never changes because it has been the same since she was little, and it brings back good memories.
Another sophomore at Hamburg, Landon Poulis, also enjoys going to the King Frost Parade. This year, he did not have to worry about finding a spot to sit, thanks to Dakota. Landon spent parade day at Dakota’s house, where he had a great time hanging out with friends and just having fun. Although he was not in the parade this year, he has been in previous years and hopes to join again someday. Landon says he loves the parade just the way it is, but he does not enjoy it when people around him are in a bad mood, it makes him feel uncomfortable and takes away from the fun.
