As November approaches, many high school students are excited to see the fall musical, Wizard of Oz. The musical and drama club as a whole is a community for those who enjoy acting, dancing, and singing, to come together and show their talents through art and performances. Throughout the entire first quarter, these people work Monday-Thursday every week, as late as 7:00 pm, to prepare for the shows.
The first performances happen during the week of 11/18 with the parent preview and the senior citizen show and the opening show and official shows take place the following Friday and weekend on 11/22, 11/23, and 11/24. Many members of the cast and crew are excited and ready to show off their hard work.
Sophomore Landon Poulios, who plays the role of the Tinman, felt extra pressure while preparing for the musical. “I do enjoy playing the Tinman. It is just hard to act like someone you aren’t.” He explains. Landon believes he is having trouble with this role because he does not know how to connect to the character. However, sophomore Koa Binder, who also is participating in the musical, disagrees. Koa believes that Landon is doing really well in the role, “If Landon is struggling with the role, you definitely can not tell because he is doing a fantastic job and I can not wait to cheer him on in the wings.”
Drama Club and the fall musical are both a great way for people to connect and share their talent with others. They would like to thank all of their supporters and encourage other students to come and bring their families to enjoy the show and cheer on their peers.
Tickets are sold online and at the door on the nights of the show on November 22, 23, and 24 for $10.00.
