With a quarter down, the students at Hamburg Area High School are well adapted to the school year. Senior Kaeli Cox reports, “This year is going by too quickly.”
As cold weather is approaching many students dread getting out of their warm bed and going out into the cold. Sophomore Ashley Oxenreider notes, “The hardest part about going to school is being in the cold.” Ashley likes to walk around town after school with some of her friends, but she will have to bundle up if she wants to continue that.
Another student, Landon Poulios, commented about thriving, and this year being fairly easy despite the upped rules, as in the phone policy. He said, “It would be beneficial to let students go on their phones during study halls. Most of the time, I do not have any work to be doing so I just sit there.”
Sophomore Jordan Cunkle said that they know their way around the high school more this year and are more in touch with their schedules and teachers than last year. They stated that this year is easier because of knowing more about the rules and policy, but with moving up a grade comes higher expectations. When asked about how the school could help throughout the year, they said “Make sure that kids get time to work on assignments when they are out sick or have an educated absence, and to make sure students know where to go for help, whether it be outside of school or in-school.”
