The holiday season is a time to spend with family and friends, get excited for Thanksgiving and Christmas break, and to be able to relax with the people that they love. Being in the holiday spirit is usually what gets students at Hamburg Area High School excited, because there is nothing better than a holiday. Although, students may differ when it comes to their absolute favorite holiday ever.
Evangeline Kern, a sophomore, says her absolute favorite holiday is Christmas. “I’ve always loved the pretty lights, the snow, and decorating our house in Christmas gear. I love the festivities around this time of year; it is pretty.” Evie also loves baking cookies, the carolers singing and getting presents. Her favorite Christmas memory was when “my little brother goat coal for his stocking on Christmas morning. He was not being bad, but our grandma gave him coal for fun, and he was really upset.”
Oakley Bogardus, another sophomore, says her favorite holiday is Halloween. “I like scary things, and fall has always been my favorite time of year. I overall just like everything about Halloween.” A Halloween movie Oakley recommends is Nightmare before Christmas. “I like the way the movie can be watched on either Christmas or Halloween. It is just a really timeless movie, and I like the stop-motion animation.”
Hunter Jennings, a sophomore, also believes that Christmas is his favorite holiday. “Christmas is fun. I love having snowball fights with my friends and family, and I really like drinking hot chocolate around this time of year.” Hunter also enjoys being able to get presents, and going to see the lights at Hershey Park Christmas Candylane.
No matter what holiday it is, holidays always bring a smile to anybody’s face, because when a holiday comes, a fun and enjoyable time follows after.
