In the fall, the cheerleaders cheer for soccer and football, but the season has ended. However, there is also a winter cheer season, which focuses on cheering for basketball and competing in competitions.
Cheer captain Lily Bentz had a lot to say about the fall season. She shared, “This fall season was a big success, especially considering how many freshmen joined the team. They came in ready to learn and to step in whenever needed.” One of Lily’s favorite memories from the season was the game at Midd-West High School, which she emphasized felt like a big sleepover with the whole team since they got to take charter buses. Lily also enjoyed the senior night, during which she could reflect on her entire journey as a cheerleader. Lily states, “I’m excited to keep building our skills, especially with stunts. The team has more confidence now, and we’re working together better, which means we can push our limits a little more, especially when preparing for competition season.” Lily says being captain is a great opportunity to guide the freshmen and other new teammates. She gets to share what she has learned, give others confidence, and prepare them to take over in the coming years.”
Freshman Madyson Zook enjoyed her first year on the high school squad. She said that the fall season was overall very good but there were a few challenges. She mentions, “My favorite skill I improved on was my stunt group getting new stunts including awesome and baha’s. I am looking forward to getting to learn more new stunts along with competition!”
