Teachers work very hard inside and outside of school to get where they are today. The time put in and the work behind it to get there should be recognized.
After attending Tamaqua high school for four years, Mrs. Benvenuto went to Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCC). She attended the college for two years because it was free and a faster college route. Next, she transferred to Bloomsburg for the remaining two years to get her bachelor’s of science in secondary education. Lastly, she attended the university of Kutztown for around three years to get her master’s degree in secondary education with a specialization in social studies. “I chose the subject of social studies because I get to make students more aware of what is going on in the world and help them be more accepting.”
Mrs. Benvenuto is currently working at the high school as a civics, honors civics, and global studies teacher. She has been teaching at Hamburg for ten years and hopefully many more to come. “I never want to leave Hamburg. I really enjoy working in this School District,” said Benvenuto. She enjoys teaching history and parts of social studies because there is so much to learn. Not only is her job about teaching material but also getting to know students on a personal level. She says, “My favorite part about teaching is the students. I like getting to know everyone’s fun personality and having a good understanding of what everyone is like.”
Other than teaching, Mrs. Benvenuto has been the freshman class office advisor for seven years. She also helps out with coaching track in the spring. Outside of school she has many hobbies. Some of them are: watching Harry Potter, going on hikes/walks with her dog, Trixie and husband, Stephen. She also enjoys reading and listening to music. Her favorite artist is Taylor Swift, she would consider herself a Swiftie. Mrs. Benvenuto’s favorite album is 1989 but she also loves Folklore. Lastly, she loves going on vacation and enjoys all inclusive resorts. “Mexico or Costa Rica have been my favorite places to travel to. I enjoy all tropical locations,” she said. Mrs. Benvenuto is a great teacher who loves helping students. If they ever have a concern or question she will always be a great person to talk to.
