It is about midway through the NFL season and many teams are meeting expectations, while others are not. Currently there are only two teams that have perfect records. Those teams are the Minnesota Vikings and the Kansas City Chiefs. Many other teams are also doing well with only one loss so far this season: the Texas Texans and the Detroit Lions. There are also many teams who are above 500 or better.
The Minnesota Vikings have had a remarkable start of the season so far, and certainly look like they will keep it up as the season progresses. “They are outperforming expectations more than any team,” said Brady Brieninger. They have a defense that is really good. Minnesota has a very good quarterback, Sam Darnold, as well. He was the third pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft, when he signed with the New York Jets. He signed with the Viking in the early spring of this year and was named the starting quarterback shortly before the season started.
One team that is looking very good currently in the NFC is the Detroit Lions. “They have great skill position players, especially running backs,” said Brady. Based on how great they have been playing so far, they could potentially make it to super bowl LlX. The Lion’s fell short last year when they lost to the 49ers in the NFC championship, but this could be their redemption year.
The Kansas City Chiefs are currently the best team in the AFC. “ This team has one of the quarterbacks there is right now, Patrick Mahomes, as well as a great defense,” said Brady. Patrick has led this team to three Super Bowl wins in 2020, 2023, and in 2024, when they beat the 49ers. The Super Bowl will be held at Caesars Superdome, home of the Louisiana Saints. As of now it looks to be the Lions vs Chiefs, but always expect the unexpected.
