Thanksgiving is a time of year when people get together with family and friends and enjoy spending time together. Many people travel home for this holiday if they do not live close. This is a time where many people get to see family members that they may not have seen in a while. Students have traditions that they have every year to celebrate Thanksgiving.
One tradition that many students do on this holiday is watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade held in New York City or watch the NFL games. “I watch the parade every year with my family and cousins”, said Ana Smith. Not only do students watch the parade, some may even have a tradition to go to it as well every year. Football is also very popular on Thanksgiving with two teams playing every single year: Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys. There is also always another added game on as well, but the Lions and Cowboys are the teams that continuously play on that day year after year. People also may enjoy watching the halftime performances from the games too.
Another tradition that is very popular among Hamburg students is making and eating a Thanksgiving feast. Having a traditional meal on Thanksgiving, whether that be for lunch or dinner, is very popular among students’ families. Many students enjoy helping their family members prepare the delicious meal and then eating it as a family. Some families might also say what they are grateful for during that time because they are all together. Students may even get together with friends on this day and have “friends giving.” Overall, this holiday is filled with so many popular traditions to do, but the main one out of them all is quality family time.
