Something a group of students look forward to every year is the fall musical. In every musical, there is a cast, orchestra, and crew. This year, the crew for the Wizard of Oz musical has a brand new stage manager, someone who is not a student.
For the past three or four years, the stage manager for stage crew has either been a junior or senior at the high school. After the musical last year, most of the crew expected for a junior or senior or be announced. What they were not expecting was for an actual stage manager to be selected.
The stage crew manager for this year is Mr. Jason Dusko. He has worked as the stage crew manager in the past and has been brought back for this year. His assistant stage crew managers are Ava Green, a senior and Riley Mohn, a junior. Last year, Riley was the props manager and Ava helped assist the stage crew manager last year.
Sheila Kern, a sophomore, is excited about having a brand new stage manager. “For as long as I’ve been doing it we have only had a student do it, so it’ll be cool to see things play out” said Kern. Last year, Sheila was in charge of managing the ropes for the curtains and was taught by the stage crew manager last year, Aster West.
A sophomore, Kaitlyn Gallagher, said “I’m used to having a student as the stage manager but I think it’ll be fun. I’m curious as to how the crew will work with him being our guide”. Last year, Kailtyn worked on the right side of the stage alongside Ava and Riley.
Overall, many crew members are curious and excited. While being in the musical, a lot of different things can happen in the matter of minutes. From costume changes to switched roles, a person can never know what to expect. Everyone on crew agrees though that this year’s musical will be awesome and that the students should come see it.
