Chelsea Manrodt, a sophomore at Hamburg Area High School, is a student who should be recognized for her participation in being a role model for her school through activities such as softball, marching band, and her wonderful personality and outlook on school itself. Chelsea has been going to Hamburg since kindergarten, and has strong academic qualities and shown strong musical skills at the Hamburg Area School Districts since then.
Chelsea plays softball as a sport in high school, and her favorite memory is “when I hit my first grand slam in a tournament or when I got my ghost bat for my fourteenth birthday.” A grand slam is when the runner occupies three bases, meaning four points are awarded to their team. Other than sports, Chelsea also loves parts of her academic learning, such as history. “I love history because I enjoy learning about the backstory of topics like wars or important historical events and people.” If she had to guess which class she struggled in the most or liked least, she would say English class. “I can never understand the sentence structures and why we analyze the text so much, or which text is the right text to annotate for that matter.” Other than that class, Chelsea rather enjoys high school and her learning. “Advice I’d give students is to just try your best and try to manage your time whenever you can to finish all of your work and have a positive outlook on school in general.”
When Chelsea graduates high school, she would like to attend college and become an athletic trainer. Her other future career is to become an occupational therapist, who is a therapist that treats people with specifically illnesses or disabilities. “I currently go to BCTC to learn occupational therapy, but either job would suit me best because they would also treat those who are injured and provide first aid care for athletes going through heinous injuries.”
