October is a great time for all Halloween and fall festivities. There are so many things to do during the month leading up to Halloween: watching scary movies, picking apples and pumpkins, making pumpkin seeds, and so much more.
Students at Hamburg Area High School love movies, and the top three favorite Halloween movies were Hocus Pocus, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Scream. Students favorite movie by far was Hocus Pocus. It is a great movie filled with humor and some scary bits, there is no surprise why it would be number one. Based on a survey in the US other than Hamburg students, people’s favorite movie is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It was released in 1974 and it is about a trip that friends take to visit the grave of a grandfather. On the way they explore an abandoned house and find someone armed with a chainsaw. This movie is thrilling, filled with scary scenes, and keeps people guessing on what will happen next.
All candy is delicious, but eating it at Halloween is always better. Agreeing with most of the US, students at Hamburg seem to keep the trend going and enjoy Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups the most. It is the best selling candy, especially during the month of October. Along with Reese’s, M&M’s, Twix and Snickers are very popular too. Also, the best drink according to HAHS students is hot chocolate and seems to be a big favorite during the chillier months.
Traditions as well as annual routines are always something to look forward to for any holiday. During Fall, students love carving pumpkins, trick or treating and dressing up on Halloween night with friends and family, and watching the same movie every year around the same time. Learning about people’s favorite Halloween things is really interesting because it is a great way of seeing how much everyone has in common, and what everyone enjoys that is different from others.
