October is a month many adolescents look forward to. Many enjoy watching scary movies, decorating their houses, eating candy, and dressing up for Halloween. Dressing up looks different for all age groups. Many adults and even high school students decide not to even wear a costume on the holiday. However, many students still do enjoy dressing up, even if some may say they are too old. As the end of October approaches, many kids and teenagers are looking for new and fun ideas for costumes.
Halloween is one of sophomore Kaylea Detweiler’s favorite holidays. “One of the best parts of my Halloween is that my birthday is the day before,” she exclaims. “It gives me something to look forward to. I love dressing up and of course trading candy with my friends.” Kaylea always dresses up for Halloween, and this year she already knows what she wants to be. “I chose to dress up as a couple of things this year but my favorite is Cleo De Nile from Monster High.” Kaylea thought this idea was cute and nostalgic since she dressed up as a character from Monster High when she was younger and loves the movies. Kaylea loves dressing up because it makes her feel excited and confident, “When I have such a detailed costume, people don’t take time to wonder who I am, but instead admire and compliment my costume,” a few more of Kaylea’s friends are also dressing up as Monster High characters for Halloween, too.
Sophomore Chelsey Oviedo is also dressing up as a Monster High Character. “I plan on being Clawdeen as well as the Lorax!” Chelsey says, “I want to be Clawdeen for the real holiday because her outfit is cute but also warm since she is a werewolf. I chose to be the Lorax to wear to school because I think it would be funny and I am all about that.” Chelsey can not wait to dress up, as well as see what others dress up as. “I love seeing the matching couples and friends costumes because they are so cute. I also really hope to see Steve Harvey or Raven from Teen Titans because I really wanted to be them, too, but I decided against it.” One costume Chelsey hopes she does not see is a killer clown costume. When they were everywhere back in 2017 she did not even go trick or treating because of how terrified she was.
Overall, Halloween is a fun holiday to celebrate for all ages. Everybody, no matter their age or who they are should be able to dress up and have fun with friends and family. This Halloween season many hope to see fun and creative costumes of all ages everywhere.
