Ana Smith – 9
Many high school students have interesting lives and backgrounds. Ninth grade student, Rylee Strunk has a pretty busy life full of entertainment.
Rylee has lived in the town of Hamburg her whole life of 14 years. Students have many different opinions on Hamburg. “I like living in Hamburg because my family lives close to me,” Rylee said.
Outside of school Rylee participates in dance and takes four dance classes at Dance Pointe Studio in town. She does tap, modern, lyrical, jazz, and has one solo. She also enjoys baking with her aunt, watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Penn State, playing with her dog Harper, and relaxing.
Inside of school, she participates in student council and Leo club and plays the flute in the concert band. She has played the flute for four years.
She is looking forward to the rest of ninth grade, and says, “I want to excel in my academics so I can fulfill my future plans.” When Rylee graduates, she wants to go to Penn State University to study sports medicine or sports media and communications.
Rylee has been to many interesting places. She has been to all professional Philly sports stadiums and Beaver stadium, home to the Penn State Nittany Lions. Her favorite place that she has been to is Arizona. She says, “I got to see family that I hadn’t seen in a while, and the scenery was beautiful, especially the Grand Canyon.”
Her favorite holiday is Christmas because she gets to see her family, and the holiday spirit is fun to get into. Rylee prefers cats over dogs because she is allergic to cats and believes that dog’s overall are just better. Her aunt, Miss Heckman, is a math teacher at the high school, and she is an only child.
