On October 3, students interested in the BCTC program attended a field trip to BCTC East located at 3307 Friedensburg Rd, Oley. Students learned more about BCTC and what it has to offer. Students attending are figuring out what they want to do in their future.
After this field trip there will be another to BCTC West located at 1057 County Rd, Leesport. At each location they hold different programs, BCTC East offers: Dental Occupations, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitative Therapy, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Early Childhood Education, Protective Services -Homeland Security, Automotive Collision Repair Technology, Automotive Technology, Service Occupations, Protective Services -Law Enforcement, Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology, Computer Systems Networking & Security, Building Construction Occupations, Cabinetry & Wood Technology, Carpentry, Heavy Equipment Operations, Horticulture, HVAC Refrigeration, Masonry, Plumbing & Heating, and Residential Painting & Interior Design.
Many people who went on this field trip thought it was fun and educational. Twighla Keppley, a tenth grader planning on attending BCTC said, “The field trip was fun and a good way to learn about BCTC.” She thinks attending BCTC is beneficial because, “You can get extra experience and you can learn safety protocols as well as learn with others so you can know how to socialize in the work environment better.”
The next step for students who attended the field trip and wish to go to BCTC is to complete the application process. The application process will start on October 15. An application workshop will be held on October 17 at the library during flex, open to any students who want help with their application.
