At HAHS, there are plenty of different choices for students to choose their classes each school year. There are different reasons for choosing certain classes but there are a couple ones that seem to peak people’s interests when they first come into high school depending on what they deem as interesting or boring.
One of these classes happens to be Video Communications, a class where students learn how to do a variety of things like: filming and editing videos, directing, planning, and scriptwriting. Maya Fultz, a freshman, stated that those who are creative and like writing may be interested in it. She enjoys this class because, “I love creating stories and sharing stories with others.” Students can even rejoin after their first year to take it for advanced work, since they would have learned the basics the first year.
Though, some students prefer more basic classes that do not require too much effort and are more enjoyable to a wider variety of people. Another freshman, Kaida Chwatek, said she likes Wellness the best out of her classes, like a lot of students here as it presents the opportunity to be a more fun class with friends. The thing she takes most joy in during gym class is, “playing games and a lot of my friends are in it, so we can talk.” This class is one that is not optional but can pose as a fun way to get rid of energy or to finally talk to others.
Despite the many different options of classes, there are a few that stick out the most and are more intriguing than others but learning more about what others here at HAHS express about how they feel with different classes may open someone’s mind to trying something new they did not know they liked.
