Musical students work very hard to help put together our school’s musical in the beginning months of the school year before November. It takes them a lot of hard work and practice, and without them taking time out of their days to rehearse, we would not have the production every year. This year the rehearsal times have been changed to Monday and Wednesday starting at three, and Tuesday and Thursday starting at four.
Mr. Barry, the musical director, says that these times have changed this year so that there is a time period for students to get their work done and hopefully help students juggle school and musical practices better.
Elizabeth Grim believes that these new musical practice times are beneficial. She mentions appreciating the break they get between three and four to get homework done as well as not having Friday practices. She says, “getting out later is a little bit annoying, but having that homework study time helps relieve some stress.”
Sid Bonning thinks that the musical practice times are working to an extent. “It is kind of difficult to remember what days are what due to the differing schedule throughout the week, but it is nice to have homework study time.”
It is important for musical students to keep their grades up, just as it is for athletes. Hopefully this makes that easier on students, and ensures their work gets done.
