On September 16, students from the senior class attended the senior sunrise. The students who chose to attend arrived in the student parking lot at 6:15 am. From there, they walked to the football stadium and set up blankets to sit on and watch the sunrise. Many seniors brought coffee and breakfast items to enjoy as they watched the sunrise with their friends. The idea of a senior sunrise has grown more popular over the years and has even become a tradition. HAHS saw about 52 senior participants this year.
Juliette Buckwalter really enjoyed attending this special event. She thought it was a really nice idea to bring the senior class together to watch the sunrise. Seeing all of the different friend groups interact, take pictures, and share breakfast food was really heartwarming. Juliette’s favorite part was the opportunity to socialize with her friends and the donut she ate. The graduating class getting together to watch the sunrise felt like a bonding moment for Juliette which she considers important since this is the last year that all of the seniors will be together. Overall, everything was how she expected, although she was surprised at how light out it was when everyone arrived. Waking up earlier would have been more difficult, but it may have allowed everyone to see more of the sunrise.
Another attending senior, Hailey Quinn, said the senior sunrise was very enjoyable. She brought a blanket and hot chocolate with her to enjoy this senior class tradition. It was nice to see everyone get together to enjoy something as a class, despite everyone’s differences. This was a really special moment for everyone to get together with their friends, capture it with pictures, and enjoy the sunrise. Hailey views it as a great tradition since it helps the senior class feel more united. Everything went as she expected. The weather was nice and everyone got a clear view of the sky.
The seniors can gather together again to celebrate the end of their senior year with the senior sunset on May 21, from 7 to 8:30 pm. The senior sunset will be held in the stadium again where students can spend time with friends and play yard games.
