Many people enjoy listening to music, especially teenagers, and it is a part of their everyday lives, using it to help study, relax after a long day, or sing with friends on a road trip. People from all ages listen to music, whether they are listening to a Disney princess song or an old love song from Elvis Presley. Sophomores at Hamburg Area High School listen to many different genres of music.
The top three answers that were put on the form were pop, heavy metal, and R&B. Some examples of pop songs are Good Luck, Babe! by Chappell Roan and MILLION DOLLAR BABY by Tommy Richman. Examples of heavy metal songs would be Walk by Pantera and Nero Forte by Slipknot. Some examples of R&B songs are Leave The Door Open by Bruno Mars and Redbone by Childish Gambino. Currently, Good Luck Babe! comes in at number six and MILLION DOLLAR BABY is currently number eight on the pop billboards.
Sophomore Lilly Gibson said, “I grew up on pop music with my mom, and it just grew with me.” Lilly said that her favorite pop song is HOT TO GO! by Chappell Roan. Another sophomore, Kaitlyn Gallagher, said, “I like pop music because whenever I listen to it, it just makes me cheerful.” Kaitlyn also said that her favorite pop song would have to be Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne.
After surveying a small percentage of sophomores, the conclusion is that their preferred genre of music is pop.
