The PFEW program “Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week” recognizes how students should be able to have the opportunity to experience both personal freedom and economic opportunity. For the past 44 years, this program has started students in their pathway of life helping them get a head start on what they want to do and how they should. Such as preparing students for their future and placing them in hands-on learning experiences, according to PFew.org.
Ryleigh Scholl is a Junior from Hamburg Area High School who attended PFEW to experience this program at Lycoming College in the month June 2024. Ryleigh was with a team of 20 other students from Pennsylvania and got to build a fictional business on campus.
Ryleigh had a finance and marketing team as well as a CEO, historian, and other important people. Ryleigh was a historian and her job was to take small notes of all of their meetings between the finance and marketing team along with also being in charge of the campaign for ads and they had to make a commercial ad, a radio station and a music ad.
At the end of her experience at PFEW, Ryleigh took all of her hard work and presented it to a panel of judges as well as showing them the marketing aspect of her business. She showed her music ads, commercials and video ads. PFEW is a great opportunity to experience what college would be like and how to run or create a business.
If students are interested in attending in summer please visit the website or talk to Mrs. Keck or Mrs. DelConte.
