I have been in Publications for two years, my freshman and sophomore years. I am a better writer than I thought I would ever be. I have learned in detail some of the principles, techniques, and best practices of effective writing.
My writing strengths and weaknesses can easily be defined and my weaknesses can slowly be fixed the more I write in Publications. I have improved my grammar skills, expanded my vocabulary, learned how to express myself, and develop my creativity, as well as learning not to use contractions.
Publications has also taught me how to use other apps on my computer. I have learned how to use InDesign which Iuse to make the yearbook pages, and I have learned my way around the Google apps more such as Google docs, Google drive, and Google calendar. I use our class calendar to know how to manage my time correctly and how to make the most of my time.
Overall, I recommend Publications as a class to take if a student wants to write for newspapers or be a better writer in the future.
