Bob Marley: One Love came out in 2024 and is about the iconic reggae singer. Bob Marley was born in 1945 in Jamaica and became a global music phenomenon and an influential figure in reggae. His voice and personality made him a symbol of love and unity. Marley has created classics like, One Love and No Woman, No Cry. Other than music he addresses social and political issues, reflecting his commitment to justice and equality. His lyrics carried messages of peace and love.
The movie focuses on Marley’s life, his rise to fame, and the struggles Jamaica faced. Its starring actors, Kingsley Ben-Adir, James Norton, Umi Myers, Anthony Welsh.
The movie starts with the sad side of everything he and the people around Jamaica went through and slowly builds up to him bringing the nations together. Ending with him singing One Love. He performs a peace concert in 1977 and shortly after he finds out he has melanoma which Marley tragically dies from in 1981. The movie shows how much he impacted everyone in his love for music. The Bob Marley: One Love movie had a budget of 70 million dollars and has brought in $120.6 million dollars in box office. It was directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and his family had a huge part of it.
As someone who watched the Bob Marley movie to hangout with friend. I have heard a select few songs from Marley and one being, One Love. I personally did not enjoy it although I believe if I had interest in Bob Marley and had more information on him and his family, I would have definitely loved it. Getting to see another side of Marley and his team like the behind the scenes and the best part of it all his family had a huge impact on the film and helped create the film.
