Everyone is familiar with tornados and major weather scenarios, as well as the significant impact that they leave behind. The damage to people’s homes, power outages, economic losses, environmental impacts, and psychological impacts leave people with anxiety about the aftermath of a tornado or a significant weather scenario. The famous 1996 film Twister covers all of those factors that would happen in an actual central weather scenario.
The backstory behind this is a girl named Jo Harding, played by actress Helen Hunt, who, at a young age, takes shelter from an F5 tornado that later kills her father, and 27 years later, she has then become obsessed with tornado chasing. Jo brings her invention, Dorothy, at the beginning of the adventure. This invention is explicitly meant to capture the measure of the tornado, and it captures the wind velocity. She and her team hope her invention can impact the study of tornados and the upgrading of warning systems.
The actors and actresses all play a significant role in the movie, and they all do a terrific job. There is no time in this movie where any of them could have played their role decently enough. Bill Harding, played by William Paxton, was in movies like Titanic (1997), Apollo 13 (1995), and so many other popular films.
Paxton is another main character who, in Twister, was married to Jo but got divorced and is expecting to get married to his fiance in the film, Melissa Reeves. She is new to the tornado chasing and the team, and she does not seem to be very comfortable with the whole routine since she appears to get severe anxiety and awkwardness. The other characters, who are the team members, are very devoted and enthused by the idea of chasing tornados.
The remake of the Twister movie is titled Twisters, and it will be released by Universal Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures on July 19, 2024. The film is in these genres: thriller, action, documentary, horror, and others. Those who enjoy these types of genres will enjoy this film. The film was directed by Lee Issac Chung from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith. The production of this movie started in June 2020 in the states of Oklahoma and Los Angeles, California. So others can assume that based upon the prolonged production of this film, there will be many more details to this movie rather than the original. The original has more fake graphic details of a tornado since technology back then was not as updated as it is today, so it will be interesting to see what the tornados will look like. For example, in the scene where Jo, Bill, and Melissa are on the bridge over the water, they appear to see sister tornados, but the tornadoes shown have a weird and awkward white outline, which looks pretty unrealistic.
The new film will cover all of the factors that the first Twister film had, but it will just be different actors. The star actors and actresses will include Daisy Edgar Jones as Kate Cooper, Glen Powell as Tyler Owens, Anthony Ramos as Javi, and some other characters. If some are familiar with Glen Powell, he has played in Top Gun: Maverick (2022), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), Hidden Figures (2016), and Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003). With these actors and actresses in this film, it could be better than the original film because of updated technology and better equipment.
