Madden Dietrich is a sophomore clarinet player at Hamburg Area High School. She enjoys playing in concerts no matter how nervous she gets, and she always attends her lessons. She has played the clarinet since fourth grade in Tilden Elementary, and she chose it because it was the first instrument she could make a noise with. Her favorite song she has ever played during her time in the band was the song African Spirit Dance by John O’Reilly because it was catchy and her favorite part was the beginning of the song. On the contrary, she dislikes the song El Capitan, a march created by John Phillip Sousa because she finds it difficult to play. She finds the march to be fun to listen to since it reminds her of a carousel, and she loves carousels.
Other than music, Madden enjoys reading and writing, and she enjoys the series of They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera. She also enjoys listening to songs like Scotty Doesn’t Know by Lustra on Apple Music. A show she loves to watch is called Ugly Betty. Her favorite class is Honors Chemistry with Mr. Laughlin. She wants to work as a creative writer or a mortician if need be.
