The Grammys award show is a major event for everyone in the music industry. Some of the biggest influential musicians and artists can be found attending and performing at the event. Artists attending the event include Taylor Swift, Celine Dion, boygenius, Olivia Rodrigo, Noah Kahan, and Billy Joel. The event, which took place on February 4 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, was hosted by comedian Trevor Noah and included many performances from SZA, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs.
There were many ups and downs at the events. Outfits were a main “up” of the event. When describing Taylor Swift’s outfit, Vanity Fair’s article states, “a strapless Schiaparelli couture look, which featured a dramatic full-length white gown with a thigh-high slit, lengthy train and sculptural bodice.” Many fans believed Swift was hinting at the rerelease of her album “Reputation.” However, this was not the case, for she decided to announce that she is planning on releasing a whole new album called “The Tortured Poet’s Department.” Many fans are very excited at this announcement and have already begun to claim tracks. She also made history, being the first female artist to win album of the year 4 times.
Olivia Rodrigo showed up to the event in a vintage Versace dress. The dress was form fitting and looked very flattering on Olivia. There are six rings along each side of the strap and there is a cluster of rhinestones at the top which spread out in the middle and become a cluster once more at the bottom. She wore light makeup with a red lip and rocked a side part.
Many well deserving artists won their categories. Taylor Swift got her fourth album of the year, Coco Jones won best new artist, and Miley Cryus, who won her first ever Grammy for record of the year and best pop solo performance for her song “Flowers.” Many say Miley deserved it while others say it was undeserved and that they could not believe how she beat her fellow nominees. “Flowers” was up against songs and artists such as “Vampire” by Olivia Rodrigo, “Anti-hero” by Taylor Swift, “Not Strong Enough” by boygenius, “What Was I Made For” by Billie Eilish, “On My Mama” by Victoria Monét, “Workshop” by John Baptiste, and “Kill Bill” by SZA. While Miley’s song “Flowers” was constantly played on the radio and showed amazing vocal ability, many would argue that it does not match the vocalization and lyricism of the other songs. Miley’s song talks about her being able to buy her own flowers and not needing a man to do anything for her. While this song has a very strong message that many find empowering, Swift’s “Anti-hero” talks about a person lacking the ability to do great things and have qualities similar to a hero. Olivia’s song “Vampire” talks about a guy draining her and showcases her amazing vocal range and way of showing emotion and making her listeners feel what she feels.
Nevertheless, this year’s Grammy was definitely an interesting one with many great performances and nominees. All of the artists did an amazing job and viewers are looking forward to next year’s event.
