As Christmas is fast approaching, now is the time to begin with the Christmas cheer and spirit. Hamburg Area High School will be participating by holding a series of Christmas-themed competitions, spirit days, and a pep rally.
Student Council has worked hard to organize many different events for students leading up to the Christmas break. The theme of all of these events is class warfare, which is a competition among the 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027 classes.
Spirit Week will also include different mini-competitions that add points to which class wins the overall competition. Monday, December 18, is comfy clothes day; Tuesday, December 19, is dress like a candy cane; Wednesday, December 20, is ugly sweater day; Thursday, December 21, is Christmas hat day; and Friday, seniors wear red, juniors wear green, sophomores wear blue, and freshmen wear white. There will be a representative from student council that will visit each homeroom in the morning and keep track of how many students are participating in the spirit days. The class with the most student participation wins the mini-competition.
One other fun competition is hallway decorating. Each class was assigned a hallway and was asked to think of a theme in which they would completely decorate their hallway. If a student is unsure of what their theme is, they should ask their class officers. The teachers also get to decorate their own hallway! The decorating will take place on December 15 and the days leading up to it.
To wrap up the fun, Student Council is organizing a pep rally on the morning of December 22. This is the half day before Christmas break, which will allow BCTC students to attend a pep rally, which is usually impossible due to scheduling conflicts. The pep rally will be themed around different competitions between classes, including sumo wrestling! There will also be many different prizes handed out throughout the pep rally.
Participate in all of the upcoming events to show support and spirit for the school and all of the hard work that has been put into the events by Student Council.
