There are many ways to prepare for the upcoming softball season, such as, going to batting cages, throwing balls back and forth with a friend, and hitting off a tee. Batting cages form strong muscle memory, improve pitch selection, and they are a helpful tool to help grow hitting skills.
Throwing a ball back and forth with a friend can help improve throwing power, throwing skills, and can also help with catching using a glove.
Hitting off a tee helps batters focus on their swing, develop hand-eye coordination, and develop a consistent contact swing path as well as improving their bat skills.
Maria Brown, sophomore, states, “You have to prepare yourself mentally ahead of time as well as other things.” Maria also states that players have to prepare themselves for hard work and dedication. Maria recommends that players start practicing before the season starts.
Molly Krick, sophomore, states, “I prepare myself by working out and taking private lessons.” She also plays travel softball all year round which lets her practice/play all year. Open gyms during school also help Molly.
