Holidays are one thing that brings everyone together. For many students, it is some of their favorite things to celebrate throughout the year. The two most common favorite holidays were their own birthday and Halloween.
Chelsea Monrodt, a freshman, said her favorite holiday was her own birthday. ”It’s the day I was born, why shouldn’t I celebrate it,” Chelsea said. Birthdays represent the day that person came into the world. They often get gifts and cards, wishing them another good year. The first birthdays date back to Rome. Only men’s birthdays were celebrated because women were not considered to have birthdays till the 12th century, according to the Forbes website.
Another favorite holiday was Halloween. The decorations, weather, and free candy are all reasons why students love it so much. The students get to go out at night and pick between many different candies and trinkets. Another reason people love it so much is because of costumes. Demons, firefighters, and movie characters are just some examples of what students dress up as. The decorations are a lot of students’ favorite parts. Walking and home from school and seeing a giant skeleton sends a shiver of excitement down their spine. Many students also like the weather surrounding Halloween. After sweating and wearing shorts just to stay cool, many like the temperature change. Being able to wear a comfy sweater brings a ton of joy to many students.
Holidays bring everyone together, whether that be for a birthday party or a trick or treat outing with friends. Students are looking forward to a year filled with birthdays and the soon approaching spooky season.
