According to National University, eight Important Soft Skills for Teachers are Communication, Time Management, Strong Work Ethic, Problem Solving, Leadership, Variety of Teaching Methods, Variety of Teaching Modes, and Emotional Intelligence. I have experienced that teachers being able to help sudents whenever is needed helps the student understand what to do. All of these soft skills are very important because some students need to trust their teachers with different things and many different things are needed to trust someone. Madeline Handwerk, a sophomore at HAHS, states, “A good teacher is somebody students feel they can go to, because not everybody has a good home life.” Maddie’s example of a good teacher at HAHS is Miss Heckman and Mr. Hetrich. Madeline states that Miss Heckman was so kind which made her a good teacher, and Mr. Hetrich because of how funny and easy to talk to he is.
Gracie Zettlemoyer, a sophomore at HAHS, states, “A good teacher is someone who goes above and beyond for their students in classrooms and anywhere else.”
Good teachers have strong relationships with their students by being warm, available, and kind. Some students wish that teachers would reach out to parents often, and some don’t. To read more about what a good teacher is, visit https://www.waldenu.edu.
