Cadence Jalbert has been a student at Hamburg Area Schools for her entire schooling career. She has been heavily involved in the music department including choir, band, orchestra, chamber strings, aerial boundaries, jazz band, and marching band. She recently joined field hockey and participated in cross country during her freshman year. Her future plans include becoming an elementary school teacher and to remain involved in her music. She is hoping that she can inspire the younger generations to believe that everyone is inclusive.
Before moving away to college the next summer, she decided to take a cross-country trip to 17 different states with her dad including: Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, California, Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. On the first day of her trip in July, the radiator blew in their jeep and they had to take a detour into Mighican to a local car shop to get the jeep fixed before returning to the route to Chicago. During the car rides, she would listen to music, take in the scenery, and read books on the longer rides. Cadence and her dad would stay in historic hotels on the way down and eat out for dinner at local diners or chain restaurants. Her favorite of the 17 would be visiting the Grand Canyon. Cadence got to experience a lightning storm from the other side of the canyon, and she believes that it is part of her appeal to it.
Cadence experienced many cultural differences in Texas and New Mexico compared to Pennsylvania. She noticed differences in the food they eat and the clothes they wear, both relating back to the location of where they live. She wanted to take this trip before becoming busy with college deadlines, but she also wanted to experience it at an older age where she would retain and remember more of it.
