Sophomore goalie number 33, Jarrett Herman participated in the Taylor Seitzinger memorial tournament on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Hamburg Area High School. Jarrett has been involved in soccer for eight years. He feels by participation in the tournament, he is honoring and respecting her memory.
His goal and mindset when walking into the weekend were to make it as far as possible throughout the games. Coaches say overall the boys had a vast amount of adversity in the start of the season losing five games by one goal. Jarrett feels the team came together and played the best they ever have as a group this weekend.
Coach Zalasky said “Besides those factors they have continued to grind, work, improve, and are now playing their best ball of the season.” Jarrett said the team’s biggest strengths were communication along with working together as a whole. This is how the boys went undefeated during the tournament declaring them champions. The boys won over Halifax 2-1 and beat Schuylkill Haven 5-0 this weekend.
Zalasky says Jarrett has stepped up when needed throughout this season. Coach said “Even though he is our backup keeper, both starts he has made this year have been wins for the varsity team”.
Jarrett’s favorite things from the tournament were winning the tournament overall and spending time with his team. Coaches say they are very excited to see what the boys can do with their final eight games left of the year. Zalasky says “I am very proud of every member of our roster!”
