Over the 2023 summer, students did many different activities such as traveling, sports, reading, art, and working. Two sophomore students, Morgan Riegel and Bethany Stufflet, had two different summer experiences.
Morgan Riegel’s summer was more on the filled side. She spent the majority of her summer volunteering at St Luke’s Hospital. During her time there, she had the chance to observe surgeries and doctors daily responsibilities. Besides volunteering she also spent most of her summer working at the McDonalds in Hamburg. Besides a heavy work schedule, she also went on one cruise to: Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaço. Morgan feels that her summer went by fast.
Bethany Stufflet’s summer was “Boring, and went really fast.” She was hoping to be able to spend a week or weekend at Wildwood Beach, New Jersey, but sadly did not end up getting the chance. Although she did not get the chance to go to Wildwood, she did get the chance to go to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware with her best friend. She had an activity-filled beach trip as she saw many sunrises, took many walks on the boardwalk, and even visited the beach she is named after, Bethany Beach, Delaware. Besides the beach, she also spent time relaxing in her personal above-ground pool. Bethany wishes she would have had the chance to do more activities this summer, but understood that she was unable to due to her parents’ work schedule.
Summer has the possibility for all students to be fun and memory-filled, but it also has the possibility to be boring and regretful. Students do not always have control on how their summer is spent, but they can always try to make the best of it.
