HAHS students shop for prom dresses

In preparation for the HAHS prom on May 12, 2023, from 6-10 pm, many high school students have already gone prom dress shopping. Many girls will start dress shopping as soon as late January and early February. Since most high school students go at the same time of the year, prom dress shopping can be very hectic and stressful at times. There can be 20 minute long lines to just try on a dress, where one could not like anything they have tried on. Hailie Edwards, HAHS junior, tried on about 15 different dresses before finding the dress that she wanted to get.

Emily Zimmerman, HAHS junior, says, “I had tried on about 20 dresses before finding the prom dress I liked the most,” reiterating how much time and effort it takes to find a dress.

Some students have to go to multiple stores before finding their dress. Hailie Edwards had gone to three different stores, where she ended up getting her dress at the White Pear Boutique, and Emily Zimmerman traveled to two different stores before finding her dress.

After finding the dress, there is still a possibility that the dress could need alterations to fit one’s body exactly, where that costs extra money and time. Along with the costs of the alterations, the dresses can vary in price themselves. Some can be in a range of $50-$500. Depending on where one shops, could determine how expensive the dresses are, to where it can be a very pricey prom.

But after one finds a prom dress and gets it altered, it is nice to take a deep breath and calm down. Students of HAHS enjoy the prom and will come back with funny and interesting stories. Have fun at prom and enjoy the delicious food!
